Somatic Experiencing® is a body-oriented therapeutic model that helps heal trauma and other stress disorders. Developed by Peter Levine, Ph.D., it is the result of the multidisciplinary study of stress physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics, with more than 45 years of successful clinical application.
Essentially, Somatic Experiencing® helps people who have experienced trauma to regulate their own nervous systems and to process trauma, often after years of having experienced anxiety, stress, depression, and other disorders secondary to dysregulation from the unprocessed traumatic event(s) they experienced.
Hello, I’m Emily
I am honored to support you on your healing journey.
I’m a Licensed Associate Counselor, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and Registered Yoga Teacher. I also assist in Somatic Experiencing trainings with Somatic Experiencing International (SEI) and provide sessions for beginning-level SE students.
I work primarily with thoughtful, high-achieving adults who appear successful but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck inside. Many of my clients learned early on to rely on intellect and independence when emotions didn’t feel safe or supported. Though highly capable, they often struggle with anxiety, burnout, mood shifts, or a sense of not fully knowing themselves.
My work is grounded in somatic experiencing, mindfulness, self-compassion, parts work, and attachment-focused therapy.
Together, we gently shift from living in the head to reconnecting with the body’s wisdom and emotional truth.
I specialize in slow, nervous-system-informed work that helps build emotional capacity, improve regulation, and support a more connected, authentic, and self-led life.
Outside of therapy, I love hiking, traveling, and spending time with my partner and our pets. I enjoy trying new foods and going on adventures like skiing and surfing — anything that gets me moving, exploring, and connecting with the world around me.
THE SUMMIT SOMATICS PROCESS
Step 1: Getting Started
Step 2: Consultation
Clients often describe feeling seen, heard, and understood, while also experiencing laughter, reciprocity, and moments of joy throughout the work.
Therapy is not only about healing pain—it’s about reconnecting with your body and your capacity for pleasure and resilience. You will leave sessions feeling more grounded, empowered, and connected to yourself.
As therapy progresses and we approach the closure phase, we will take time to review your journey, reflect on progress, and assess where you are in your healing process.
Together, we will decide whether you are ready for some space from therapy or if additional support is needed.
Your 20 minute consultation is an opportunity to connect and explore whether therapy is the right fit for you. During the call, we will discuss your goals and needs, review practice policies and receive a brief overview of the body-centered approach to healing.
If it feels like a good fit for both of us, we can schedule your initial intake session.

The short answer is...it depends. It depends largely on you, your goals, and how long you desire to spend in therapy.
Some humans we've worked with work with us for only a few months, others for years, and others off and on.
This decision is one we can discuss when we meet and one we'll review on an ongoing basis.

Many clients have shared that in traditional talk therapy, focusing intensely on symptoms can sometimes leave them feeling more activation, tension, or overwhelm in the body.
In contrast, Somatic Experiencing work emphasizes gentle, body-centered processing, helping you move through activation safely, integrate experiences, and leave sessions feeling more regulated, grounded, and empowered.
There is no wrong answer, only what feels best to you.
